What is Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics)?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance of the nose by reshaping its structure. This treatment aims to achieve an aesthetic balance that complements the patient’s overall facial features.

Beyond aesthetics, it is often performed to address functional issues such as correcting the nasal tip, refining the bridge, or improving the general symmetry of the nose.

For those seeking structural refinement
For those experiencing breathing difficulties
For those with snoring and sleep apnea concerns

Frequently Asked Questions

01. What is Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)?
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure performed by reshaping the bone and cartilage tissues that form the anatomical framework of the nose. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of this surgical process and to find answers to questions such as "How is the surgery planned?", "What factors determine the costs?", or "What should be prioritized during the recovery period?", you can explore the rest of our article.
02. How is the Rhinoplasty Procedure Performed?
The Rhinoplasty Procedure Step-by-Step
Anesthesia Phase
Rhinoplasty is performed either under local anesthesia with sedation or, more commonly, under general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the procedure and the surgeon’s approach. While the duration of the surgery varies based on the intricacy of the case, it is typically completed within 1 to 2 hours.

The Surgical Process
During the procedure, the nasal skin is carefully separated from its underlying framework of bone and cartilage to allow for precise reshaping. Once the desired structure is achieved, the skin is meticulously redraped over the new nasal scaffold. Surgeons generally perform this via small incisions made inside the nostrils (closed technique) to avoid visible scarring. However, in more complex cases, an "open rhinoplasty" may be preferred to provide a broader field of view for detailed adjustments.

Completion and Finalization
Once the surgical modifications are complete, the incisions are closed with aesthetic sutures. A splint or cast is then applied to the exterior of the nose to protect its new form and ensure stability. Additionally, nasal packing or internal splints are placed within both nostrils to minimize the risk of bleeding and to stabilize the nasal septum during the initial healing stage.
03. What Should I Consider During the Recovery Period?
Post-Operative Care and Recovery
The First 24 Hours: Facial swelling, nasal congestion, and mild headaches are common; these symptoms can be easily managed with prescribed medication.

Resting Position: On the first day, it is essential to rest with your head elevated above the chest to help minimize edema.

Recovery Timeline: Most bruising and swelling will naturally subside within approximately 14 days.

Mild Bleeding: Slight spotting or minor nasal bleeding is a normal part of the healing process during the first few days.

Critical Restrictions: To protect the nasal tissues, avoid blowing your nose for several months and refrain from strenuous physical activities for the first few weeks
04. What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)?
Blepharoplasty, more commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, has significantly surged in popularity in recent years as a specialized aesthetic procedure focused on the surgical removal of excess skin or accumulated fat deposits from both the upper and lower eyelids. Beyond merely addressing the visible signs of aging, this intervention aims to revitalize the entire eye area, effectively eliminating a tired appearance to provide patients with a much more refreshed, alert, and youthful expression.
Bu cerrahi işlem, yüzün çok daha genç ve diri görünmesini sağlarken diğer yandan bazı kişilerde dar görüş alanını genişletir.
05. Who are the Ideal Candidates for Blepharoplasty?
There is no strict age requirement for this procedure; as it addresses not only age-related sagging but also structural drooping or puffiness that can occur at a younger age due to genetic factors. Therefore, the decision is based on the patient's specific anatomical needs rather than a chronological milestone.

Statistically, however, the majority of patients seeking blepharoplasty are aged 40 and above. The aesthetic results of the surgery typically remain stable and effective for approximately 10 to 15 years. It is important to note that as the natural aging process continues and skin elasticity gradually decreases over time, a minor re-accumulation of eyelid skin may eventually occur, which is a completely normal development.
